Backerei Walchli, Rothrist - Olten

Visited for breakfast. There was a little language barrier, though we visited with German friends who could try to speak a language they would understand. It was over to get the wrong food, but it wasn't a problem. The food was nice, and the surroundings also very pleasant. Friendly staff. Nice salad bar.

My husband and I drove from Bern to Zurich on the smaller highway 1 instead of the highway, so we could see farms and villages on the way. It was on a Monday in February, and we were hungry for a late lunch, but had seen very few places that appeared open. Near Rothrist, I saw the Cafe Bakery Walchli shield on a bright and modern corner building with parking, and it was open, so we decided to stop. When entering we asked if someone spoke English, and a nice young woman behind the bakery said she did. She told me that it was the first day that they had made special lutens seasonal baked goods, and explained what in the article I had referred to. It was like a tiny egg queestard with a thin layer of fruit jam inside and delicious. My husband and I sat and ordered from the nice menu, written in German. He was happy that they had goulash soup, and I was glad that they offered crepes with many ways of filling. I chose a crepe with bolognese filling, and it was very good. There were also full meals and salads available. Service was friendly and efficient, and we enjoyed it. The place was popular with locals as some people were there with coffee or tea and candy.
