¡Ay Mí Dios! This place is definitely a hidden gem of Cottleville. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food away from the mainstream chains, this is the place. Each order is made when you order but that doesn’t seem to extend the wait time. They have empanadas (which I have not been able to find anywhere) and their tamals are amazing! And yes it is tamals. Their chips come with multiple salsas and even ask for their homemade hot sauces. I’ve had the chile Relleno two times now and each time it was incredible. Most restaurants make the egg on the outside soggy and the cheese is overpowering. With La Chata’s, the egg is the perfect consistency and the cheese is perfectly proportionate to the chile. In terms of dessert, I highly recommend the flan. I will never eat another flan after this one! The atmosphere is vibrant and the decorations add to the charm of the dining area. The owner has come out and talked with us along with his wife many times about the food and their story. To sum it all up, this is the place to get quality Mexican food and not that **** Taco Bell imitation Mexican food. ¡Es muy muy muy muy delicioso!

We love it here! Other reviewers have been disappointed with no chimichanga on the menu. I will say that my first time I was disappointed too-that is my 'go-to ' Mexican dish. But I ordered 2 enchilada verdes from the ala carte menu. So so so good! My husband ordered the shrimp fajita. He was a little taken aback because it did not come out on the traditional sizzling plate swimming in seasoning. But he said it was the best fajita he 's ever had because he could taste the flavor of all the ingredients rather than salty seasoning. <br/ <br/ LaChata is our favorite Mexican place!

Great place for authentic Mexican food. No 'Tex-Mex ' here. This has been a favorite of our 's for years. We recently had our daughter 's engagement celebration dinner there along with her fiance 's family, none of which had been there before and it was a big hit. Even the one who proclaimed she 'didn 't like Mexican food ' enjoyed her meal. The service was great, the food was delish, and the atmosphere is always on point, (the piano player on the weekends is a nice touch too). Can 't wait to go again!

Best Green Sauce. Welcome to Cottleville! This is my new favorite Mexican Restaurant! The food is amazing, the carne asada taco's, pork burritos and green sauce are the best I have ever had. The margaritas are my new favorite! They must make their own mix it was so good!

Excellent, excellent Mexican food! Top notch enchiladas. We really liked it and look forward to going back!
