Bidrage med feedbackI dined at the restaurant located in the Holiday Inn hotel. The menu was fairly good, and I often had breakfast during my extended stay at the hotel. The dinner menu had a wide variety of choices, and I opted for the steak with salad and fries. The steak was cooked exactly as I ordered and the salad was delicious. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient.
I enjoyed two breakfast buffets and had dinner one night at the hotel restaurant. The buffet had a variety of standard options such as eggs, bacon, fruit, breads, cereal, coffee, and juice, and was convenient with complimentary coupons provided daily by the hotel. The salmon dinner with redskin mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables was unexpectedly delicious. I was pleased to have this dining option within the Holiday Inn Oakville.
I stayed here for 3 nights. I had 4 meals here and they never got it right. The first time I had to wait over five minutes at the please wait to be seated sign before I got a table and then I asked if that meant that the service will be slow and they said I would get served right away. Which I did. But what I found really interesting was that another family that arrived the same time as me hadn't received their food by the time I had finished eating my meal. I spoke to them as I was leaving and they weren't happy. Another group of 12 who were waiting for their food decided it was too long of a wait and they left. For 1 breakfast they were understaffed because two staff people didn't show up. On a Sunday I arrived just before noon the restaurant was empty except for one table and there was food and dirty dishes all over the restaurant the carpet was dirty and the staff were carrying on with conversations rather than clearing up the restaurant. I had to ask for my silverware and coffee which wasn't delivered because there wasn't any available and they decided to brew some. I decided to forego the coffee because I had finished my meal before the coffee was even offered. Foods not bad but they need to improve on the service and the management of the restaurant. They're probably a lot of business.
Had their breakfast buffet 3 times, all was good except the scrambled eggs were always dry. Dinner however was a different story. 4 of us split 2 chicken nachos as appetizers, then I had the hot wings. The chicken nachos are pretty small for $20 which is why we had two (server asked if that was all, so asked if it would be big enough for 4 as an app and she said no, they 're very small). They tasted fine (7/10). The wings were the smallest chickens wings I 've ever seen, and wings and nachos are my favourite pub food. The sauce was okay, not great or even good (6/10). What takes the overall rating from what would have been a 3 based on food alone is the service. 2 people on, only a few tables occupied in the restaurant and the service was terrible. Took a long time to order initial drinks, then took a long time in between ordering appetizers and main meals, never asked if I wanted anther beer after my glass was empty, didn 't bring us napkins and cutlery (I got it for everyone from another table), had to clear my own table after the appetizer, when asked for a beer glass they gave me an obviously dirty one with lipstick on it.... Asked the other guys who had soup, fish and chips, and salmon BLT what they thought and they all said is was just 'okay '. I would eat breakfast hear, but wouldn 't waste time or money here again for dinner.
The food was amazing and a great price. The hospitality was outstanding which I don't typically find from a hotel's restaurant.
