The Old Black Horse Inn - Nuneaton

We visited as part of family gathering to celebrate a birtday after a meal elsewhere. Despite being busy the welcome was warm. We found a clean table and enjoyed the atmosphere at this excellent establishment. Well worth a visit in this lovely village.

Beautiful place, staff attentive and on their game perhaps not throw the wine bottles in the bin and place them as it made me jump every time! New menu. Soup arrived cold but was rectified immediately and was AMAZING! Lamb main terrible! Cold and undercooked so tough to eat! Dessert dry and tasteless Cheese was dry, seemed like it hadn’t been stored properly or was out of date! Such a shame

I came for dinner on the 20th of August for my sister's birthday, with a table of ten. Firstly I'd like to say the food was superb, well worth the money. But sadly our experience fell short there after. The old black horse inn has built a reputation locally as a fine dining establishment. As good as the food was, everything else was lacking. Firstly my parents have been in the drinks industry for 40+ years, and know there trade. So when it came to ordering drinks, there looked at the menu, and to there surprise it was woeful. My father asked the waitress what sherry they had, he asked for a Fino, a dry sherry. The young women didn't have a clue what a fino was, and responded by saying we've got Harvey's cream sherry. To my father's surprise, the waitress then, said they have a fino in the cellar, he was served a Harvey's, not what he wanted. I'll be honest and say there beer range was not representative of a fine dining establishment nor the wine selection. Everything on there menu I could get through my local tesco, or majestic wines. Nothing exciting. I also think, the staff needs some serious training. When asked no one knew what specials were on that Saturday evening, no one knew, about the wines when asked. I hope the management see this and make changes.

We enjoyed a wonderful family dinner here. the sunday roast was great and desserts also fantastic. great value for money, especially as the main thing came with generous portions of vegetables and roasts. the personal was attentive, friendly and welcoming. Although we are a 50-minute drive away, we will definitely visit here again.

What an excellent experience. really friendly and attentive staff without being too attentive. eating was excellent, I and my partner loved every dish. excellent quality, well boiled, and a good portion size, and what we think is a good value for the quality. we will be back
