Doesn't this place bring back fond memories! I have been going to Union Hotel for more than 10 years. They shut the pub for months to go through a complete overhaul, voila the pub became bigger, better and the food certainly stepped out a few notches. Ever since it has become a favourite for Friday work lunches or afterwork drinks. My favourite dish was the $20 Friday lunch special ribs. It was by far the best ribs I ever had. They even gave you a bib, there must be hilarious photos somewhere out there showing my colleagues covered in BBQ sauce in their bibs. Unfortunately they stopped doing the Friday rib special. The last meal I had there was actually below average - a tiny single duck leg served on top of a huge bed of lentils. I felt I paid $20+ just to get a plate of lentils as the duck was so tiny and gone in 3 bites! A French style bistro served from a pub ... The decor was her classic pub feeling, the food itself was not bad at all. While certainly not the biggest, it was still good for what you get, and the price you pay. Grief I would not go out of my way to eat here, but if I was near, I would probably jump back
