Great Staff and food Under new management from today Lovely pub with pleasant outside bar and large garden

Wow, Sian Powell Gary Berwick have made a great job with this extensive refurbishment of The Poacher. A free house that was first licenced neck in 1683 and has seen many owners. It finally became known as The Poachers in the 1970 's. You really must disregard any reviews before it 's relaunch on November 24th 2018. Review date: 13th December. Friendly staff, good beers and some great looking food. The interior is bright, clean and very welcoming. Gary and the staff at that time made you feel at home. The menu has a good selection to choose from but I had had to choose the 8oz rib eye steak cooked medium rare, and I must say, I was very impressed with the quality. It just fell apart with hardly any force at all. As a note, medium rare is just that, a lovely pink colour. The plates even came out pre warmed and the chips were double cooked. Very enjoyable with the rich creamy peppercorn sauce. But, a picture can tell a thousand words, so here are a few I took. It 's well worth the visit. Regards D Happy Christmas.

Nice little pub, no Pepsi Max on tap but had Coke Zero in a can so no probs. The beer was great. Seating is comfy, pub nice and warm on a cold day.

NO pumps in use anymore, and there weten't even any bottled beers available, I was so embarassed my friends stayed there the night looking forward to dtaying in a pub.. mot not one woth NO Beer !!..Staff explaiined they are in process of a takeover, So let the beets run down ...but I did enjoy a Lovey Pimms whilst waiting.

This is Pleasant looking pub. It was quite empty when we arrived they were having a live band play in the evening. The toilets were clean and tidy and smelt fresh. We ordered food but not all dishes were delivered correctly. The food however did taste good and the staff were friendly and welcoming. There is a lovely outdoor garden.
