Bidrage med feedbackThis is my local pub I would have liked to have booked my table for an hour later, but the automated online booking service only offered 18:00 as the latest possible slot (I know I could have phoned, but had trouble connecting on the phone, a few days prior to booking . The atmosphere was good. The front of house staff were very knowledgeable and attentive. Not only a wide range of drinks available but a good selection of dishes offered on the main a la carte menu and specials menu. I ordered from the specials menu. Only one dish unavailable from the specials (starter: scallops and black pudding, which with a shellfish allergy, I wouldn 't have ordered. . The only very minor criticism is that there were too many 'carbs ' for my liking on the main. Either take away the garlic bread or reduce the amount of linguine from the cod loin main. Although, the arrabiata sauce was authentically tasty. Good value for money. I 'll definitely go back.
Went recently for the sunday roast, we had the beef, gammon and lamb, so tender and juicy. Dan's roast potatoes are fluffy on the inside and crispy outside. A must is the garlic mushrooms with homemade garlic mayo Definitely worthy of a visit.
I do not normally write poor reviews, I but had to report on my disappointment with my Sunday lunch experience at The Harrows. We had booked in good faith to eat at 2.30om and was told this was a good time. On arrival at 2.00pm we were told that Beef and Lamb were both sold out because they had been unprepared for an influx of diners. The choice was gammon or chicken. My wife's starter prawns were clearly not cooked through and were returned, I also hasten to add that the plate was so warm it had actually cooked the salad lettuce. Her soup and my sons soup was luke warm. My garlic mushrooms were sloppy. All the meat on the main courses we're over cooked and very dry. We also added cauliflower cheese which did not arrive until we had nearly completed eating. This was removed from the bill. I cannot recommend this pub for Sunday lunch. The chef seemed out of his depth. A great shame because we had heard good things.
We have eaten here a couple of times before and the food has been fine but this time it was very disappointing. So much so, I had a couple bites of mine and couldn't eat the rest. The fish was like mush and the potatoes used to make the skin on chips hadn't been washed properly so you could taste and feel the bits of grit in your mouth. It wasn't just me though, the others in our party weren't happy either. One even said it was probably one of the worst meals they'd ever eaten. They did at least try to eat theirs though but only because, we had been waiting so long for the food to arrive, they were really hungry by the time it did. Now, like most people, we understand that everyone has an off day but the staff never even asked if the food was ok. Very Poor
Called earlier to make sure the 6 Nations Rugby was on their TV. Emma assured it would be showing. True to her word it was on, the pub has been refurbished, Emma was run off her feet as she was the only one serving but was still cheerful and helpful. Rugby gave us a good result eventually and Joe did his best to make sure we had sound and picture. Food was very good big portions and tasty might order starters next time. It’s been a long time since our last visit but we will be back, great atmosphere lovely people. Just one thing can the ladies toilets be checked out please? Broken loo seat and hand dryer that don’t dry. That’s my only complaint! Thanks Emma and Joe see you again soon!!
