Cafe R - New York City

There should be more places like this. It's a food hall with several restaurants. I was there at 7 am and only the Mexican place was open. The ordering system was terrible, but my pancakes were good.

Convenient place for lunch or any quick meal. Open from 6 am to 9 pm. There's a big salad and hot food bar as well as stations for burritos, teriyaki, sushi, and the grill.

We hadn't realized that the grill was, in fact, open because it looked shut down for the evening and no employees came forth offering to service us, so we headed toward the buffet at $10.99/lb. None of the dishes were labeled, so I cannot specify thedish names. The chicken in the sweet red sauce was stiff. The plastic cutlery wouldn't cut into it and it was an ordeal to brakeit down into smaller bite-sized pieces. The chicken with the vegetables was a bit easier to cut into and okay in taste. None ofthe dishes had a wow factor at all. The fried rice was okay, but also had a stiff or undercooked quality to it. The dumplingswere not soft at all and at some point I gave up with the hard dough and just ate the stuffing inside. Someone in my party hadto use the restroom and mentioned how sticky the floor was, so the rest of us opted out from using it. The only thing worthy ofmention was the cashier and his enthusiastic customer service. Extremely overpriced food considering the lack of quality.

Food was not delicious. Ordered a taco bowl and hibachi. Chicken in taco bowl was unseasoned and tasted like they doused it in water before serving it. Rice and beans were mushy and unpleasant. Hibachi sauce was very strong and tasted like they just putthe rice in the bowl some veggies and threw some teriyaki sauce on top. 2 stars only because everyone inside was very friendlyand everything was done cleanly and swiftly

I come here often because this place is very clean, the food is very delicious and the drinks are refreshing. They have all kinds of food and drinks that you can choose from. Hot food, cold drinks, Japanese, Korean, a buffet, you name it. They have it all. There's also plenty of seating and it's very close from Penn Station. So if you're in the area and want to grab a bite or drink, I highly recommend this place! :
