Cafe Sarn Helen - Neath Port Talbot

The food at this restaurant is of excellent quality, with generously sized portions offered at a very affordable price. The service provided is top-notch, with polite and efficient staff members.

We went for Sunday lunch and were highly impressed with everything from the food to the service and atmosphere. The price was also very reasonable. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

I had been wanting to try Mag Banwen for a long time, so when October came around and we had four family birthdays to celebrate, we decided to meet there for a meal. It was my choice, and we all traveled quite far from different areas like Abergavenny, Cardiff, and Pontypridd. We had been looking at the menu all week leading up to our visit, especially excited for the loaded fries. When we arrived, we were seated at our table and the staff was friendly and helpful as we decided what to order. After about 45 minutes of eagerly waiting (and getting quite hungry since we had skipped meals in anticipation), a nervous staff member came out with bad news - the gas had stopped working halfway through preparing our meals. So, we were told we could have our ribs, burgers, etc., but without the sides like fries and onion rings. It was a Friday night at 8 pm, we were starving, and we knew it wasn't the restaurant's fault, so we accepted whatever they could offer. It wasn't the Mag Banwen experience we had hoped for, but the food we did have was truly delicious and the staff were lovely. They even didn't charge us for our meals, just the deposit we had paid. We had to grab some food on the way home, but we hope to try Mag Banwen again sometime. Despite the unexpected turn of events, we are grateful we went and understand that these things happen. The restaurant handled the situation well, and even though it wasn't the birthday celebration we had planned and traveled miles for, we still had a positive experience.

MAG came highly recommended so expectations where high! We had a lovely evening with great food in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. Staff were friendly and service was excellent. The menu choices were impressive with plenty of variety which included options for vegetarian and vegans.

Great service tummy-stretching plates of food. A fabulous experience. What’s not to like? A great place for mates, couples, families with nice atmosphere.
