Bidrage med feedbackDuring our weekend trip to Montreal, one of our first stops was Les Jardins Dorval, where we stumbled upon this restaurant. The restaurant was quite spacious, but was nearly empty with only 2 other tables occupied when we arrived at 2:30pm on a Saturday of a long weekend. This should have raised a red flag for us. We were swiftly seated by an older waitress, but the service went downhill from there. We had just arrived from a flight and wanted something light to eat. We ordered a Philly Steak Sandwich and six appetizer wings to share. The waitress seemed to have an attitude, questioning if that was all we were going to order and jokingly saying goodbye if we were not going to order more. As for the food, the steak sandwich was decent. The cheese and Philly steak were tasty, but there was a bit too much grease, causing the hotdog bun to become soggy in the middle. The portion sizes were satisfactory. The appetizer wings came with the sauce on the side, which was appreciated, and they were average in taste. The service throughout the meal was practically nonexistent. There were workers (possibly maintenance) changing light bulbs in the fixtures, and both waitresses seemed preoccupied and it took us quite some time to get their attention, despite the lack of customers.
This restaurant is a fantastic spot to enjoy breakfast with friends. There are plenty of seating options and I have never seen a place so generous with their smoked salmon. Their bagel with smoked salmon is absolutely delicious. The service is great too - you never have to ask for a coffee refill. The restaurant has had a new owner for some time now, and I love the large TVs, excellent wine selection, and beautiful terrace in the summer.
The atmosphere is like a 1950s diner, which is really cool. The wait staff are really nice and accommodating and the food is delicious. We had the burger combo but the fries are a bit oily and the burgers are a bit crumbly. Overall, would come again for a quick bite.
Not a great experience for the price I payed. Waiter didn 't understand any English, so it made ordering and asking questions difficult. My friend ordered a bagel with bacon, egg, lettuce and tomato. They forgot the the lettuce and tomato. We didn 't get any cutlery. My burger was a bit burnt tasting and when the waiter asked how he our meal was I told him it was so-so cause it tasted burnt. He didn 't say anything and walked away. The ketchup bottle broke and squirted ketchup all over my plate. It wasn 't the worst place I 'd been to, but it wasn 't a nice experience. It was comparable to Le belle province only more expensive.
Apparently all the Portuguese places open late on Mondays or are closed. Came to Nickel's cuz I couldn't waste anymore time for lunch . The thing about Nickels they are always blow average or average food wise . If you not in the mood for McDonald's or a&w type of food then there fine. the soup of the day was surprisingly good chicken cream of something. Took the fish and chips not that good. Didn't taste fresh at all but what did I honestly expect ¿ I tried a few Nickels now I'm always disappointed in the food service was good I like old school look . Unfortunately for me I don't think I'll ever eat at a Nickels any more way better places out there .
