Bidrage med feedbackWe stayed at the hotel attached to this restaurant, which included a complimentary continental breakfast. However, we found the offerings to be unappetizing and unimpressive, so we opted not to partake. As we were leaving, we witnessed an employee clearing a table, using a dry bar towel to wipe down dirty plates before placing them in a closet with the clean dishes. Overall, our experience left us feeling uneasy about the cleanliness and standards of this establishment.
The restaurant is in need of some renovations as it appears old and uninviting. They offered a buffet dinner with a decent selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. However, the bar was lacking essentials such as Chivas Regal and tonic water which are typically expected at a restaurant. The service was good but the decor seemed dated. The food was average and could benefit from more attention to detail. The buffet setup felt disorganized and should be spaced out better. Overall, the restaurant was not terrible and offered decent value for the price, but there was not much to rave about.
A friend who dined at this restaurant a few years ago recommended it to us. The restaurant has since changed its location to only being downstairs. It was mentioned that they had renovated the upper floor, but it seems they have moved downstairs for now. However, our dining experience was disappointing as our utensils and cups were dirty. The food portions were extremely small, almost like a small buffet. The tandoori chicken was dry, the butter chicken was good, but the curry chicken was mostly bones with little meat. There were some decent vegetable dishes though. We paid $140 for a meal for 4 adults and 2 children who mainly ate rice and naan bread. It would be better to eat Indian food elsewhere in Ottawa. My friend was kind enough to cover the bill, feeling bad about the experience.
We went to this restaurant last night. I was 5 times on the upper floor location over a period of say 8 years and despite terrible reviews, a leaky ceiling and outdated decor I always enjoyed my experience and based our decision to go back on it. You are now right down from where they were before, they share an entrance (lobby type area with a hotel so that you go to and around the corner to get to the restaurant. The guy sitting at the little reception pointed us in the right direction. More signage would be great! So... we sat at the top level window. The place is much smaller, but no dense ceilings and I found it to be a much more beautiful decoration / ambience than above location. The service was super friendly and attentive! Give us fresh naan bread with butter chicken diving sauce. My friend couldn't survive how good it was. You will notice that the buffet is much smaller than before, but do not fret because the most important Indian dishes are still there (can not remember what all these other dishes were when they were up..fries, Hotdogs.! Everyone was DELICIOUS. I don't exaggerate and I ate my share of Indian food. The best chicken I've ever had! Everything was fresh and the buffet was kept clean. Also mention the delicious palate distributor! We had a mango daiquiri that was also delicious and they are not stingy on the alcohol. No gastric problems to report and we were looking for everything that would lead us to escape. The quality of food and service were excellent and for all you can eat Indian buffet; it is worth giving another attempt! We are looking forward to our next visit!
The food in the buffet looks and tastes like it has been there since lunch time. A thick congealed skin on top of the food. Lots of choices, but everything we tried was very poor. There are some great Indian Restaurants in Montreal, this is not one of them.
