Bidrage med feedbackVisited the Friday market tonight for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic. It was so nice to see it again and feel sorta normal! It 's a great little market always lots of local vendors selling all sorts of items from jewelry to fruit and veg. I even saw a vegan leather vendor tonight haha! The city closes down a long stretch of Myrtle St in Old Town and the market runs from 5 9pm. Along with all the vendors, they have quite a large section devoted to bouncy houses, giant inflatable slides, and a climbing wall the kids LOVE it! They used to have several different food trucks and a couple of live music acts and a petting zoo but tonight they didn 't have any of that not sure if tonight was just a fluke or if that 's just how it is now I was sad. I 'll definitely be checking back to see if maybe I just caught them on a weird night. It almost seemed like a ghost town lol. There are several public parking lots in the area as well as street parking outside of the closed off section during the market we 've always easily found a spot. It 's a great little date night activity especially when it 's in full force with all the food trucks and music. Definitely worth a visit!
Fun and free! In downtown Monrovia is a farmer's market every Friday night. Hungry, looking to entertain the kids, buy veggies or craft goods, or or per farm animals? This is the place to be. The also have two live bands and it just makes the place lively. Since it is downtown, they close down the streets and make it a safe place to enjoy a nice walk surrounded by great restaurants and stores. To find parking, you will need to park on the outskirts. I like parking south of the farmer's market, and it is free. Also, if you love farm markets, know this one doesn't have many veggie/fruit vendors compared to others. Is this great for date? Very much so! Take a walk, enjoy some music, and either go to a nice restaurant downtown or enjoy food here and there at the food trucks and vendors.
Fridays, starting at 5pm, Myrtle Ave is closed between Chestnut and Lemon for this Farmers Market aka street fair. It's pretty large, has a nice layout with plenty of space for walking, and has a lot to see. There are probably too many vendors selling same/similar items like gem stone jewelry, incense, and cheap knock off toys but there are some unique vendors, too. I am always happy to see a handmade soap vendor. There was a nice nail polish vendor last night, as well. I bought soap and nail polish! We saw two Crocs charms vendors, a guy selling large succulents and large indoor plants, a face painter, a balloon animal maker, and this lady selling cheesecake in a cup was making a killing lol. , As for food, there are at least 3 vendors selling Aguas frescas. We tried some pretty basic nachos, bbq giant squid, amazing crepes, homemade Madeline's, and hummus with pita. There are not enough tables and chairs for diners so it seems wise to bring a picnic blanket and set up your own eating area on the sidewalk. I was surprised to see a dumpling vendor I want to try this next time. For little kids, there are SEVERAL bounce houses and a petting zoo. There used to be pony rides but I didn't notice them last night. As night falls, the buskers emerge. We saw three different live musical acts happening on different blocks. My favorite was the Katywompus Band they had MANY stringed instruments, nice vocals, and a kid dancing to the music. I wish there was a hot coffee vendor. That's what I really wanted last night. Not lattes and iced cold brew. Oh, if you have a problem with dogs, you might not like this event. There are all kinds of dogs on leashes everywhere. But who doesn't like dogs?
My favorite farmer's market! Love the variety of vendors. Food selection is great! Energy is great and relaxing....Great place to bring your family for a night out- especially for kids! Monrovia is such a great area! Without a doubt worth the trip to Monrovia!
So much fun!! Lots of stands. Fruits, veggies, kettle corn, restaurants. Blocks and blocks of fun
