Bidrage med feedbackVery nice place for a casual lunch alfresco. menu was typical perigord country tariff as duck. we enjoyed the cafe gourmand especially!
On a very hot day it was great to sit outside under the shadow that looks over the weinberge while the 3 of us enjoyed a great lunch. good food and good service
Went here twice in first two weeks of August. Staying in Monbazillac as large family party of 10 people with 4 kids. Booked this for first Friday night and we loved it. Therefore, we decided to all go back as our final meal before all...headed home a week later. Whilst the pound/euro exchange rate is rubbish, this place is still remarkably cheap for the high quality. There are 4 set menus at 25 euros to 30 euros. Between us we tried them all and the quality of food was excellent, the presentation was excellent and the portion sizes were surprisingly large. Also the house wine carafes were very good value (being Brits we drunk far too much) but they also constantly brought up iced tap water. The man who seemed to own the place and who took our orders and served us was really funny. We barely spoke French and he barely spoke English but we were all laughing every time we interacted. It was also very family friendly as they were great towards the kids. Top value and I wish that I was going there this Friday instead of being back home.
When we first got to Monbazillac, this was the only restaurant open, because of the time of year (early March . We decided to take a chance, and were we thrilled that we had! The menu is not huge, but every dish is perfectly prepared, particularly...the confit de canard, which was the best I 've ever eaten (both times I had it! . When the owner told me that it would take 20 minutes to prepare, I said I would order a first course--so glad he talked me out of it, because the portions are quite large (even by American standards . Do leave room for dessert, though, as the homemade chocolate mousse is transcendental. No need to get a full bottle of wine, either, because a pichet of the house red will not disappoint. We 'll definitely be going back.
We were planning to visit the chateaux but wanted to eat first. Very pleased to find this restaurant just round the corner. The waiter said 10 mins to wait and sat us down with a menu. After a while he took our order and came...over with it drinks. It was busy and he was the only one serving. The food came out and was delicious. So much flavour and was well presented. We lived all the courses we went for a set menu. It was lovely and such a good atmosphere. Would recommend it to anyone. Good value for money a 3 course meal with a beer, carafe rose wine and coffee for 30€ a head.
