Cooked to perfection. Nice flavour, well spiced. Not too much food, just enough. Tea was lovely and the ongoing refill much appreciated. Service was prompt and attentive, but not too attentive. Spacious, light and airy atmosphere even when almost every table was taken.
Every time I go to Mr Chow's it is not busy. Yes it is out of the way, but the food (and service) is fantastic so I can't understand why this restaurant is not packed each lunch or dinner. The service is Ok - nothing flash but the quality of the food is superb especially the Peking Duck, Duck Soup, San Chow Bow, Chicken, Dim Sums etc. Definitely give this restaurant a try and see for yourself.
Having been to the rugby last night as a guest of my employer and having had a wonderful afternoon (despite the result), we headed to Mr Chows for dinner. The first thing I noticed was that for a Saturday night, the restaurant was surprisingly empty. Then, the reason for the emptiness became very apparent very quickly. These people have absolutely no idea about customer service, politeness and ensuring their patrons have a memorable and enjoyable experience. The wait staff complained that they were short staffed (not our problem), they were arrogant, rude and very slow. The staff actually looked unhappy and stressed. One employee could not speak English and when asked if she could take our order for drinks, there was a complete lack of understanding. They didn't have the beer that we chose on the drinks menu and nor did they have the wine that we chose complaining that they were at the behest of the pub downstairs and that there was only one selection. One of our party went downstairs and came back with a selection of wines (purchased from the pub) as the wine that Chows had available was a cheap wine heavily marked up. Then the fried rice came out after everyone had finished the meals and it seemed to be missing the prawns and other things that you would expect to see within the rice. To top it all off, due to a broken plastic chop stick, the male waiter stormed over to the table with the bill and asked us to pay and leave as we had destroyed his property. One of our party offered him $5 for the chop stick but he refused saying it's not the money but the fact that we destroyed property. Whilst the food was ok, save yourself the trouble and go to a restaurant that appreciates your business. I have been to many restaurants but would never go back to Mr Chows. There are many out there that would appreciate my business and show it.
A busy restaurant in the newish Darwin Waterfront precinct. There was a big group so we decided to order 2 lots of 4 dishes. Each of the dishes was individually flavored, my favorite being the fish dish. Service was good enough for a large group, the only disappointing thing being unavailability of our first two selections of white wine.
