Quilchena Hotel - Merritt

Yes, I mean a real bar from the old days and sports an authentic bull hole in the bar. The Quilchina Lodge or Hotel offers rooms and meals during the summer or tourist season months. The Oldtimer hotel still carries the decor, the floor plans, and...that timeless photos, framed that speak with its history, the bar and restaurant is open to the public and its guests. We drove out from Kamloops and enjoyed a Red Cook lunch, local craftsmanship and a wonderful walk through the grounds. It's worth a ride.

This quaint hotel and restaurant is a beautiful throw back to a much more simple time. The building and antiques are great, the little bar is homey and there is a little golf course near by.

Went for lunch in the saloon, good food, great service, in the gunshot saloon, an interesting history, as well as nice rooms available, went to gift shop next door as well which we really enjoyed

We pulled in here because we had been following some bikers down from Kamloops on the 5A all morning. This hotel is where they pulled in for lunch. So we knew that the food would be good, and for sure, there would be beer......We were...right!....AND they allowed our small dog to sit with us on the patio, which had been closed for the season. Again, very accomodating. Delish chicken caesar for me, and a great burger and fries for him. A fun stop with lots of history attached. It wasn't cheap. $46 for above-mentioned meal.

Enroute okanagan to vancouver over the Douglas lake road planned an overnight in merritt. Stopped for lunch and had a fabulous burger and saw on the menu the evening special of prime rib. Lunch was so good we took a chance and made a reservation for dinner. About a 20 minute lovely drive from merritt. Glad we made the return as dinner was just great. Everything was perfect. Great, unusual veges combined with yorkshire pudding and a great cut of prime rib done perfectly. Good wine list and excellent dessert. I seldom give a full 5 star but this place definitely earned it.
