Panzano - Meridian Station

It was a terrible experience. The entire restaurant smelled of sewage. I had a 10:30am reservation, which I arrived 4 minutes early to. I had to wait 10 mins to be greeted, then another 5 minutes to be seated. The restaurant was basically empty with only 2 tables being served. I won't bash the server or host but I will not be coming back. Ever. What happened to this place? It used to be considered fine dining.

This restaurant has gone downhill it used to be a reliable source of pretty genuine Italian food. Last night we waited nearly an hour for our food, and my seafood pasta was poor. The smallest amount of seafood I have seen on this dish. The servers tried to keep things upbeat, but a really poor experience

Evening was great except the $12 bread. I get it. And I am all for charging for value. But $12 for bread is steep to say the least. My fish and broth was amazing. And the wine was great value and an excellent representation of what Italian wine would be.

I've dined at Panzano for many years, most often for lunch. Historically, my favorite menu item was always the chicken piccata. I was disappointed yesterday because it was much different from what it used to be. It used to be more traditional in style, with a zesty lemon caper sauce served over spinach and I believe there was spaghetti on the side. Yesterday's version was served with a brown gravy type sauce over something that may have been a form of rice, cauliflower rice or risotto I couldn't quite tell. The quality was fine, I just didn't enjoy it as much as the old version. The panzanella salad was very good.

The Mother's Day brunch was a departure from our usual Panzano dining, and it was wonderful! Our best friends joined us for a delicious feast. It was difficult deciding what to have, knowing I was going to get full before trying everything. Highlights were the shrimp cocktail, pesto polenta cakes, banana bread French toast, lemon curd cups and simple but beautiful fruit assortment. Perfect way to celebrate Mother's Day.
