Bidrage med feedbackA lovely cafe outside the State Library, Mr Tulk serves up fabulous coffee in a convenient location. With the recent nice weather, it was great to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine. There are an abundance of outdoor tables and the area is clean and tidy, with a cosmopolitan feel.<br/ <br/ There is also a large space inside, and an interesting food menu. On our last visit, we just had some fabulous coffees that were of excellent quality. The barista was lovely, and we received our coffee promptly. Mr Tulk is definitely a great spot to sit outside and take a breather from the rush of the city.
Found this place as I needed a place to continue working from the State Library which closes at 6pm on Fridays. This place closes at 7 on Fridays and offers $5 wine during happy hour 4-6pm (made it 5min before 6pm! . Friendly staff, nice ambience and decent house pours!
Group of us came in for Saturday morning brunch. Good menu with with some great specials. Porridge was creamy with nice pieces of juicy berries rhubarb. Coffee was decent.
With a name that pays homage to Augustus Henry Tulk the State Library's first Chief Librarian, Mr Tulk is an iconic Melbourne café that is housed in what was formerly the State Library's locker room.<br/ <br/ Today it is a spacious contemporary dining hall with a design that appropriately plays on the Reading Room theme. The indoors boast a central communal table with mounted lights, inviting study and laptops or catch ups over coffee whilst the high ceilings, wooden tables and arched windows rightly contribute to the antiquarian feel of the locker room turned cafe. <br/ <br/ The café serves quality breakfast and lunch 7 days a week, with happy hour on Fridays for after work drinks.
Great coffee and sweet treats! Hard to resist on my way to work. Their cookies and muffins are amazing, and they switch up the flavours. The only thing is that they are quite pricy and a bit touristy. The menu is classic simple things done well. Recommended.
