While the server went to get a replacement, I found a long brown hair integrated with my fries (not on top, literally threaded in the fries). My partners pasta dinner was tasteless and not enough sauce was provided. It was supposed to be four-cheese pasta, but we could not find any filling in the ravioli. My biggest problem was with the owner, who we were told was on-site and was conversing with our server. When a customer has so many issues at one meal (bun, hair, overall food quality), the owner/manager should come out and deal with it. Sending your wait staff out to do your job for you out was very poor form. We also got the impression there was a bit of confusion on the restaurants end as to where the hair came from. My bald self and my red-headed girlfriend didn't quite know how to take that. We were polite and reasonable throughout the whole thing. I will end with a commendation to our server. She had a bad situation, and dealt with it in a friendly, albeit chagrined, manner. Good on her for that.
Can't properly prepare Italian food. We have eaten here 3 or 4 times over the last 4 years, wanting to give them a chance each time to make up for the poor quality of their sauces (not tasty at all) and pasta (rubbery), but to no avail. It's a nice location, but not worth the drive, unless you're looking for a cold beer at the bar
Great food and service, daily sheet is on the wall 9 specials, plus 4 soups today Lamb roast was very nice, large chunks of garlic sunk into the leg before roasting Greek potatoes and 2 veg plus garlic toast $18
Mauro 's Italian Cafe Bar has been suggested to myself and my family by many locals as the best Italian restaurant in the city. Anyone we ask it 's, Mauro 's. How over rated!!!! My sister and I didn 't originally wanted to go there, we wanted to go to Boston Pizza and have their lasagna. So when we asked our server if theirs is just as good she confidently said yes. The lasagna is served with a side of Caesar salad (that has no dressing just cheese) and is worth twenty two dollars and of course plus tax. With that cost in mind and how this restaurant is SO talked up we expected it to be good. It wasn 't, it was extremely dry and the lasagna tasted at best ordinary, lacking any sort of spice to make it stand out from any other pasta I 've had in a restaurant. Even the sauce was dry, having the consistency of dried up clumpy man witch filling. The only thing it had going for itself was the fact that it was given to us HOT. So we asked our server for sides of sauce for it. Waiting and waiting our food was getting cold. It came to a point where I got frustrated and got up to peak into the kitchen to hopefully see what was going on. Our server was just standing there talking to whom I 'm assuming was the cook instead of doing her job, like there is no excuse why it took THAT long to give us a side of sauce. I stomped back to my seat and waited a bit more when FINALLY she shows up. And when she does our food is now ice cold. So here we are my sister and I, sitting with cold pasta and a generous side of warm(ish) pasta sauce . The overly confident waitress not even giving us a chance to ask to heat it up just smiled and walked away. Meanwhile my mum and my sister 's husband had planned to order the same as us. However, there was only two servings of the lasagna. So they ended up ordering something that was seemingly generic, a suggestion from the server. They requested for it to be baked, thinking they wouldn 't get charged for requesting it since the waitress didn 't tell them. Overall in my opinion, the Mauro 's Cafe Bar is over priced, highly over rated, and very plain
This is one of my favorite neighborhood pub/restaurants. Western and Italian cuisine with fresh Quality ingredients. Steak and pasta on Thursday night special, all-you-can-eat pasta on Saturday night. A good wide variety on the menu.
