Le Carline - Mâcon

Yesterday we ate at this little restaurant. The food seemed to look good and the presentation was excellent. I had as a starter the escargot which tasted excellent and then as main course a meat dish from the Menu gourmet. When eating the meat dish I thought the taste was off but thought it was possibly due to a certain herb I was not use to. When me and my daughter left the restaurant (who had a different main course than I ) and arrived back at the hotel my stomach turned and I never experienced such bad food poisoning before. It must be from this dish as my daughter did not become ill. I am very dissapointed as our plan was to stay in Macon for one day and now I had to book and extra day at the hotel as I was not fit to travel.

We ordered the plat du jour for lunch and were extremely pleased with the quality of the food. Two options were available for both appetizer and entree, plus a set dessert. The flavours of each course were delicious and we left the restaurant happy and satiated.

Nothing fancy, but all AOKSee the photos__Place is lacking "joie de vivre", but do not let that put you off.

We were only staying in Macon for one night, so having checked out a number of restaurants along the river we took a table at this one. Service was good, the staff all had some English, and ordering was simple. We both had tomato salad and fillet steak. All the food was nicely served and the steaks were perfect. We really enjoyed our meals.

Chose this restaurant having looked at various menus in the area. The setting was nice just across from the Soane. We choose the Plait d jour as was keenly priced with a good selection. Two choices per course that covered most tastes. Starter was smoked salmon or salad. Main beuf or fish with dauphinois potatoes. Sweet ice cream or floating island (a kind of merengue in vanilla sauce. We had a bottle of local Macon Ville rouge to accompany our meal. The food was fresh, tasty and timely in production. Probably the best meal I have had for some time total price €25 each. I recommend this place for a tasty lunch.
