The Thirsty Moose Cafe - Machias

The most unprofessional staff I have ever encountered. We had friends coming in who were interested in buying the place as it 's for sale. This was their first look . Oh man. We watched the bartender yell at new guests for simply asking what kind of wine it was. We watched her close the kitchen early because food su@ks . She closed the bar early because she was mad . She scowled and threatened anyone who complained with being banned . She kicked guests out who questioned why she was being so rude and was loudly awful to the few who called the bar. Then she would loudly complain about guests to the older lady who turned out to be the owner. The locals would a chatter about how nasty she was when she took her many breaks. They all had stories of how bad she was. Meanwhile, we all just sat there trying to have a drink. No one was loud or anything. In fact, the woman who was yelled at for asking what type of wine was served was an elderly woman from out of town just visiting with her husband. Worst bar experience of my life and I 'm a bar guy.

Every town needs a bar. so does Machias. this place does everything it is supposed to do.

A damn good burger!! Not only are the burgers good but their consistently good. My only issue with the Thirsty Moose was the chill in the air put off by my server, two visits, two different servers, same chill. Now it's possible this is a locals place and I was a southern just passing through. Either way it was a good burger, maybe if you're not local just get it to go. Welcome or not I would totally eat here again.

The Ambiance at the Thirsty moose is great! The bartenders make you feel right at home and the food is delicious!

Yep, service is as bad as others report. This place reminds me of a place I never want to remember again. Unfortunately this is a one horse town with a one hitching post watering hole so BYOB.
