No pierdas tu tiempo comiendo aquí.
Located directly across from the entrance to the mission, this place is a favorite for locals celebrating special occasions. Our margarita arrived in a glass big enough to wash in. In addition to seafood and Mexican standards, the menu included six large salads. We chose the house mixed salad with shrimp, which came with nine jumbo sized artfully grilled. A skillful guitarist added a festive note to the evening.
The restaurant is in a great location across the Loreto Mission. The appetizer was excellent but the dinner order not that great. The portion and the decorated plate was good but the poblano greensauce wasn’t.. wasn’t creamy or didn’t have a good flavor. My reason for the 2 stars was because when the girl gave us the bill , the tip was included in the bill. We were a party of 3, there was no one in the restaurant except us , and we felt that was very tacky that she wanted to force us the tip.
Make sure you check your bill before leaving. We were overcharged by our waitress. We had two fish taco plates and 4 drinks and it came to $130 USD. I feel dumb for not checking the conversion rate. I wonder how many other people they do this to. The food was just ok.
We were searching for a good seafood restaurant with a Mexican twist. We saw this restaurant which was al fresco, and was not too full. Other nearby restaurants were packed, but Santo Cielo had just a couple of tables. We though it was because it was late for dinner. Little did we know how bad this place was. While we were browsing the menu outside, one waitress came out and say hello. After some chit-chat we went inside. We were brought a hummus which tasted great. We though at that point that the rest of the food was going to be as good. While browsing the menu, I noted that common supermarket wines were in there. However the process were ridiculous. A wine that costs at a store 80 pesos, was sold at 600. A wine that is found in SAMs at 139, was 800. Our waiter was efficient and friendly. But the rest of the staff were goofing around. They would go to the kitchen and play there, and when realized they lost time, they would just close the door so we wouldn’t see them. After a long while the two dishes arrived. Presentation was good. But the execution of the dishes was awful. They were uneven in flavor and too way overcooked. The octopus was so chewy. And the fish dish with lobster was overdone. The lobster was disgusting. Worst meal in the region by far. And prices were very steep. The waitress who said hi at the beginning, said that the reason of the bad food was they had no chef. So why be so dishonest and make people come when they can’t offer good food?
