Bidrage med feedbackRIP Longview Sizzler Five stars for finally being put out of it's misery.30 years ago, this place was packed nearly every night and weekend... and it was a decent place to eat especially for families celebrating birthdays...I'd love to blame COVID for the slow death spiral of this restaurant but I can definitely say that it started way before The new management which took over obviously never ran a restaurant, but I was rooting for him:How to kill a profitable Sizzler restaurant:Get rid of coupons and good specials (check); Ignore the town you work in you are an outsider local school events, bah humbug (check); Force upsells at the register automatically adding drinks just like Golden Coral (check); Make sure you are brash and get rid of all your personability when greeting guests (check); Always be angry and always blame someone else (check); Don't keep the food quality consistent excellent food one day, crappy the next (check); Forget that your main draw is the salad bar so remove all the improvements made over the years spaghetti bar, taco and burrito bar, pizza, get rid of the yummy desert bar (check);Make the working conditions and atmosphere very undesirable for all your employees, but they will always keep a smile on their face your customers won't notice how unhappy they are (check); You can't afford repairs and normal maintenance, so why bother (check); Don't pay the government what is owed until you pay yourself first (check); Make sure you always have a COSTCO sized bottle of antacid handy not for the customers who may now need it, but to treat your growing ulcer a cranky manager does wonders for your worker's morale (check); Raise prices and low quality because you aren't making as much money as you once were (check); repeat (check); keep on repeating until the downward spiral is complete (check).I hate it when our local restaurant institutions bite the dust like this.
Restaurant was CLOSED when we tried to do lunch today June 1st at 12:15pm. Weeds are growing everywhere and it looks like they are closed permanently. Definitely call first!!!!!!
We always love the salad bar and the ice cream desserts. My hubby ordered the steak and grilled shrimp combo and the steak was small and was not up to par and we had better steaks at other Sizzler's locations.
The guy at the counter spoke really fast, kept adding things to my order that weren't included so it racked the price high really fast, asked if I wanted carrot cake or chocolate, then later said there was no carrot. Baked potato is overbaked and hard. The steak and crispy shrimp was good. The mushrooms and onions had no flavor. The garlic bread is sliced bread, it's not bad but not great.I'll be back in the future but probably only get the salad bar.
Steak ordered X-rare was served Med mostly gristle/fat.; asked for water never got.; the shrimp was under cooked.; salad bar was mostly empty,; the clam chowder stuck like fish. The menu board at the order line was wrong showing one item but when we tried to order it they said that they did not offer it. We called the store #0374) to speak to manager, but he was no help and accused us of lying to him... I will not be eating at this store ever again and maybe other stores as well. This is only part of experience and never again...
