Bidrage med feedbackIncredibly condescending and rude staff who refused my order of fries and said I had to order a main and a drink. In an entirely empty cafe (apart from two of my friends) on a Monday morning said I should ‘at least order a drink especially since I was taking up a whole table.’ At least communicate better instead of rudely pushing staff away? Can’t imagine a £4 latte would be that good if they gave such little consideration for people coming in. Go to the greasy spoon cafe next door they’re much friendlier and better value.
Ive been here a few times, but of course the one time I was treated rudely was when I came as a group of international students from Goldsmiths. They treated us very passive agressively, asking 2x 'are you staying much longer? '. They refused to give us tap water, which is fine if it werent for the fact that the woman in the next table was served tap water. Apparently they were annoyed because the three of us ordered 2 mains (with extras), a side of fries and a cup of tea, and their rule is that each person should order a main. We told them that they should have communicated this to us verbally or via rules on the menu, as we would have happily supported the business and ordered more. Its frustrating because as an international student, we get treated a lot like it 's not worth explaining things to us and being treated like a nuissance. We are just trying to get lunch and would have appreciated open and clear communication on how we should behave in their business, instead of rude passive aggressive behavior. Wont be coming back here again.
What an absolute disaster of a cafe! If you 're in the mood for being treated like garbage and served subpar food, then this is the place for you. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with the stench of incompetence and the sight of a so-called owner who seemed to have mistaken hospitality for hostility.
The person who served us could barely bring herself to serve us. She actively tired to keep the interaction to the minimum barely saying any words, it was the same when she put the food down. A real shame to have someone work in the hospitality industry and hating being there.
A New Cross Gem! Banging food at a great price, It’s become a part of my week. The owners are lovely people, whose business I’m proud to support week in week out.
