Bidrage med feedbackLocation, location, disappointment. We decided to stay here because of the proximity to the KU Visitors Center and the reputation of the stay in the most beautiful building in Lawrence. Love ended there. Inside the hotel, which costs $15/night to park in a garage of students at the bar, we were hit by huge empty spaces in the halls. In the hall there were soda machines, but not in a corner or alcove. There is no room service. During the week there is a small café where you can enjoy a cup of coffee and a muffin PAY. There is no coffee machine in the room, and the restaurant is open for breakfast only on weekends. We only cleaned our room during our four-night stay. Every day we had to go down and request fresh towels because there was no placard or house phone in the room to request service. The room was sparing. No carpet in sight, minimal artwork. The small bedside table held an unplugged watch and a white noise machine. There was hardly enough room for two phones to sit and calculate. The room between the bedside table and the beds was FAR, at least 30 inches away. I had to get out of bed to pick up my phone from the nightstand. Getting water was shockingly challenging. None of the machines had water in them, and there were no water bottle filling stations. When we went to the Front Desk, they led us to the bar. The person at the bar could not find the key to unlock the refrigerator that kept the filled water. In the end they gave us polystyrene cups with water-filled paper straws. For the price we paid, this was the most disappointing hotel stay ever.
Very nice hotel with great service. The Oread is a beautiful property right next to campus and very close to downtown. The staff was very friendly, the bar was well equipped, and the rooms were spacious! The only problem we had was that the TV in our room could definitely be updated.
Terrible when we arrived. Placed in a smaller, less expensive room than we had booked that would have gone unnoticed to the hotel staff (and fortunately they would let us pay the higher price for the less room), unless we have said something. When we brought the topic to the attention of the reception, we were told that our original room was not ready at the time of check-in because “maintenance problems.” That was untrue, it actually turned out that they simply let the people in the originally booked room before we have an extremely late checkout (this, after we were specifically promised earlier that the originally booked room would be ready if we arrived between 4:30 and 5:00, the by the way AFTER was the advertised check in time of 4:00. Hotel staff was completely unqualified to treat the problem professionally. Finally, had not received keys in the originally booked room until 9 a.m. Win us a 25% discount on the room and a hotel manager actually asked “is enough to please you?” If you have to ask yourself... Finally in the originally booked, higher price rooms and...blah. Incredibly small shower. TV remote control does not work unless you stand within two feet of the front of the TV. Cable TV box hanging from the wall behind the TV. All from a hotel that stands out as a “Premiere Hotel in Lawrence”. Come on, guys. At least try. Views of KU campus rather disappointing for a room than with “extensive campus views”. Can't recommend. Go to the Eldridge instead.
Really awaits a nice hotel, but while the outside is beautiful and the location is great for KU, the hotel itself is not beautiful. The walls are naked, the elevator and hallway smell terrible, bed was unpleasant, gym was a joke and the desk had terrace furniture for a chair. Very disappointed at the costs. Never be there again.
This review is a 4 bc there were both 3 5 on some issues. 5: great location for campus visit. Hotel room were clean with nice lobby bar. Desk staff very helpful too. Covered parking convenient. 3: they pitch bfast muffins at checkin and we were planning a grab and go but they had only 1 left at 9 am. The workout facility was nothing to speak of. 2 machines and some dumbbells but no bench (was a small folding chair instead so I guess can do curls but no benching, etc. Son wanted to get in a workout but didn 't get much in. Pillows superthick with no varying sizes. Hurt neck if try to sleep on back or stomach (I got maybe 3 hr sleep).
