Windy City Beef - La Mesa

Great food and a good chance to break the monotony of everyday fast food. Try the cheesy beef or the hot dog. Good size portions and a different kind of taste. Very refreshing!

I had some work to do in the East County and ended up in the San Carlos/La Mesa area with a client. We were looking for a relaxed location with good food and a nice, open atmosphere. We decided to try Windy City Beef located on Navajo in the Vons shopping center. We walked in and were immediately impressed. The place was clean, the food smelled VERY good and the people were very pleasant. I ordered a polish sausage sandwich and the gentleman I was with ordered an Italian beef sandwich with sweet peppers. I didn 't know it at the time, but he was originally from Chicago and was really happy to be able to have real down-home Chicago food. Both of our meals came with a pop and I chose homemade chips while he got a bag o ' fries . The meal cost us about $8 each, which is a couple bucks more than I normally would spend on lunch, but it was very filling and very tasty. I told my family about it....and 3 nights later took my wife there for dinner. All in all, it is VERY good food and is well worth the value.
