This is a great place on Degraves street. Most other cafes on this street have a European feel so it's quite different to have Japanese food here. I like that it has several drinks on the menu that uses the yuzu fruit, like Yuzu Lime Bitters, Yuzu tea and Yuzu Shu cocktail. The Yuzu tea is like a better version of lemon tea. The Yuzu Shu cocktail is a bit like limoncello. The Japanese Peri Chips are very crispy and addictive. We're most surprised by the Crispy Duck. At first we thought it'll just come out as crispy skin, but it's actually the tempura duck leg, really a signature dish. It's also fun sitting by the street, people watching. We noticed many people looked at the menu but didn't commit to try this place. Maybe the menu on paper looks too much like a takeaway place, but it has so much more to offer. Such a hidden gem.
I walked past this small Japanese place few weeks back and finally got to try it. Their menu list was quite limited but this was the thing I liked. I could just decide quickly and order. We ordered the chicken karage curry don and crispy katsu don. They were quite delicious. I really liked the sesame dipping sauce for the crispy pork katsu. It was full of flavour. We also ordered the gyoza and nori fries. The place was cozy and the service was fantastic. The English waiter who served us was very polite and attentive. Overall, we had a good experience at this restaurant.
The food was delicious, service was good but slow, and the decor was cute. Had sashimi, gyōza and karaage.
Stopped for lunch. I can highly recommend the chicken katsu curry. Fresh, tasty and so good and warming in this cold winter!! Highly recommended
