Bidrage med feedbackLove this cute joint in Parkdale. It supplies jaffles, waffles & crepes... I come in once a week before work and Grab a small Capp and a Bethell ave jaffle: which is basically Ham, cheese, tomato and seeded mustard. Cant go wrong there. It is small but does well for its size. Lovely customer service It looks very popular for young kids and families, So its worth a try for the weekend.
It looks like a new business. I was going to look up the menu so I could let you know the different menus we selected but their website said 'website coming soon' Staff were attentive and meals (on wooden trays to be shared) wine and coffee came at appropriate time. The inside from what I could see had open fires in the two cosy rooms, which I really enjoyed. I could see that they had a garden area for times when weather is a bit warmer. The waiter who took our meals and drinks order did it all to memory and was very professional. He did it again when we ordered different coffees. Will go back again and check out the garden area. Cheers
In a shopping strip with so much competition you would imagine service would be a top priority in all these cafes. This small compact cafe has one central communal table and a few tables and chairs on the foot path. It's a novel concept having a communal table but not sure people are super comfortable cosying up to strangers.....I have basically always ordered take always. My last visit was very disappointing. I stopped in to pick up a takeaway milkshake for my son. They are approx $7.50 each, so not super cheap. It was 4:45pm and I believe they close at 5pm. I asked for the milk shake and was told "we close in 15 minutes" so no I couldn't have it! I was a bit shocked as I would have understood if I'd asked for a coffee and they had already cleaned the machine down or if I'd walked in at 5! I don't understand how you can turn customers away in such a competitive market. Maybe they had somewhere else to be and wanted to shut early but then why leave the open sign on and the door open? I am all for supporting local businesses and make it a point of recommending them to friends and family. It is excellent service and product that keeps the locals coming back, look at Station Stop Cafe and it's a prime example of what to do to have a thriving business in a highly competitive market.
The Local on Como is fairly new to Parkdale so when my daughter came home and told me how popular the nutella donuts were, I thought it would be a good place to meet my friend and her 11 year old daughter. I chose the tiramisu donut and what a surprise when I got to the middle! Light and delicious, but to top it off, the coffee was good and came out with a beautiful decoration. Wonderful place to satisfy a sweet craving
I went to The Local On Como to meet my friend for waffles, because I had seen them on the menu on a prior visit. I had the Nutella waffles, and I thoroughly enjoyed them. They weren't too rich, and there were two waffles, not just one. My friend ordered the banana waffles, and also enjoyed them. This is a great place for a meeting spot, and I would definitely recommend it for some lovely sweet treats.
