Bidrage med feedbackFestive eatery for a birthday lunch! I am very particular about my Mexican food, so a “4” is a solid rating. Iconic LA Mexican restaurant. Parking: We came at 12:30 on a Saturday. Parking was plentiful.
Busy place, popular with the locals. Old school faux Mexican decor and atmosphere. Reservations for dinner recommended.
The restaurant looks average from outside, but don’t fall for the outside look because the ambience and food is so good. They will start serving you with chips and salsa which is house made and also tasty. They also have good drinks. For food, I’ve tried Enchilada and Quesadilla, and both of them were delicious. Overall, everything is great. Vegetarian options: Menu contains many vegetarian dishes, some of which I tried were good in taste. Parking: Street parking is available and if you don’t find any then you can use their valet service.
Supposedly famous, it was established in the 1930's. This eatery is in serious need of a make over in their food, seating/decor; and to some degree, service. Interior is old! Say 1960 ish? Booths for four adults is cramped to the point of being uncomfortable, especially for taller people. I ordered fish tacos. While the portion of fish exceeded expectations, it was tasteless wet. Their white sauce was as tasteless as the fish. I've had better fish tacos from Rubio's fast food! Lemonade was from a mix. Waiter forgot 2 of 4 of our drinks.
Amazing food and a very festive vibe. Love the decorations and style of the restaurant. When we arrive without a reservation, (I don't think the restaurant takes any reservations) we worried if there will be a long wait. It was around 7. And we luckily got a table for 4. Almost all the tables were taken but actually the restaurant was huge. The food was amazing and very generous portions. We really enjoyed the burritos and fish tacos. Will revisit again for sure.
