The Ormidale - Isle of Arran

Super friendly restaurant, in a cozy location. family and dog friendly, with helpful staff! had a delicious bohnenburger (big portions,) kitchen very courteous for the nutrition needs! perfect place to sit and relax after a long bike tour.

As two vegans, one of whom requires gluten-free options, we had a bit of a struggle here. The staff was friendly and patient, and they double-checked with the kitchen to accommodate our needs. However, in the end, we were left with just chips and a modified version of the Veggie Fajitas, which I didn't particularly enjoy. It felt like something out of a pre-2015 vegan menu.

The Ormidal is a family-friendly pub that welcomes guests along with their dogs. They offer an extensive menu that includes a dedicated vegetarian section, and some vegetarian dishes can be made vegan upon request—just ask the helpful staff. The food is homemade and authentic. I enjoyed a burger that came with onion rings, fries, and a side salad. The portions are generous and satisfying. While the pub fare might not be the healthiest due to the amount of salt and oil used, I found it quite enjoyable. They also have a lovely outdoor seating area for nice weather.

The restaurant offered several menu items that could be adjusted for vegans, including a falafel burger and chickpea curry. I chose the curry, and it was flavorful and nicely spiced. The portion was quite generous, which was perfect after a long day of hiking. We dined indoors, enjoying a laid-back atmosphere and attentive service. My only criticism is that they didn't label the vegan options on the menu.
