Antica Pizzeria - HYDE PARK

We had a very pleasant dining experience until we realized the next day that they had overcharged us by $98 (we split the bill with 2 cards, which is why we didn't notice right away). I called the restaurant three times and was promised a call back to resolve the issue, but never received one. I also reached out to them on Facebook, but received no response. After reading other reviews, it seems this is a common occurrence, and I would not recommend this restaurant to my friends or family.

The $49 banquet at this restaurant was disappointing. The food commentary was not accurate and the set menu was not clearly communicated. The starter was a bland cheese board with tasteless olives and unripe cheese. The next dish, a bread with chopped tomato and thick cheese sauce, was underwhelming. The highlight was supposed to be unlimited pizza, but the two meter long pizzas with limited toppings were only enough for half the table. Vegetarians were also unhappy with the cross-contamination of meat on the pizzas. The group was left hungry and not offered more pizza. Drinks were overpriced, and there was pressure to buy more. The distinction between table water and filtered water was not clear, resulting in an unexpected $5 charge for still water. Overall, for $60-70 per person, it would have been better to order individually. The banquet did not showcase the best dishes and it's unlikely that we would return.

The dining experience was pleasant, but the staff was quite average and rather rude. When I requested separate checks, one for each of us, they insisted that we all pay $100 each on our credit cards (even though the total bill was $300). They refused to accommodate our request for separate transactions, and their attitude was very rude. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this restaurant and will not recommend it to my friends either.

I have booked a table for 11 for my daughter to celebrate her 17 birthday with friends. get a call a few hours before the reservation time. was said because the booking was over 10 people we had to order the shared banquet at EITHER...$49 per head or $59 per head. this would cost us $539 to $649 plus drinks for my daughter to share a birthday meal with friends. we were not allowed to order as we were pleased and therefore the booking was cancelled and we had to find an alternative place that upset my daughter. daniella from antica was so arrogant and rude and had no customer service skills. fortunately, we found a friendly restaurant and it cost us less than the half including drinks, from what antica would have accused us.

Saw on TripAdvisor that this was an area to eat at. Saw this place was half full so popped in. We were surprised how quickly the mains came out! All very tasty, authentic Italian. I'm not familiar with SA prices, but $10 for a Peroni...seemed a bit steep considering you could get a main for $23.. All g.
