Spikehorn Lounge - Houghton Lake

We ordered 2 burgers and neither was properly cooked. the one that was to have been medium was raw and cold. The medium well one was nearly raw. I know it's probably hard to find experienced kitchen help right now, but they should consider trying a bit harder. The food used to be really good.

We were in the Spikehorn a few times and were not disappointed yet. Located on the north side of the Houghton Lake, you could almost say that it is fucked away, but as it is located on the main loop of the northern bank, it is quite in sight. A beautiful, modern interior, it still has a very rustic, northern Michigan Lake look, complete with pine trim, although in a tasteful way. It is a good place for Date Night and they even often have live music. The service in the Spikehorn was consistently contemporary and we never had to wait for food or drink, although we were not there when it was whipped, so you don't know how to deal with high volume. The menu has a nice variety and I was pleased to find a pretty dang good burrito. Nice. Not only the standard bar tariff. And of course, it would not be fair not to mention the full bar, with a rather decent selection of beer on tap. I had a delicious dark beer that made Burrito very complicated. No rating would be without a trip to the head, the latrine, the latty box, water closure, indoor outhouse, whatever. The bathroom. It's nice to say that the Spikehorn is going through the test. There is enough space for more than one person, it is clean, well illuminated and fully functional. Sounds small, but it's amazing how many places it doesn't get right. (I can only speak for the men's room. I'm pretty sure it's almost never a good idea to check the women's restroom just for a review. After another satisfying meal, with a beer or maybe two, our bill came upon request and we checked in a short order. Once again we were not disappointed at Spikehorn. I'm pretty sure you won't be, even though this is in no way a legally binding promise.

Great food, always the best Walleye fish dinner! They don't serve Walleye anymore. The cable junks and chips are also good. Very loud as they have rebuilt the place. So loud we couldn't have a conversation at our table. We're not hard to hear either. My proposal would be to hang flags or fabric from the ceiling to damp the sound. We're not going if we're busy because of the noise. Great food though
