Kacha Thai - Hopewell

We ate twice. It was good both times. My basil fried rice could have been spicier although I ordered level 3. Treasures, I have to bump to level 4!

Ordnete the Basil with Tofu #5 of 7 on the spicy scale, because usually I found restaurants, even Thai, do not make it spicy enough. It was perfectly spicy, with #5 next time, FINALLY a restaurant not afraid to cook with heat! I forgot to ask that it be made with low oil, because oil makes me sick, but they cooked it without the crutch of oil for taste. Good taste and vegetable combinations. Omnivore visitors with us also enjoyed their meals. The food quality is the vegetables that are cooked for perfection and fresh. Staff friendly and cheerful. The shares were fair and the prices were for Thai food. Do not come here for an atmosphere-basic environment, sufficient seating, but no ambience. Probably my favorite meal in the last few months. In fact, I had Thai in Washington DC twice this week, and this restaurant hit them hands down.

I have been frequently visiting this restaurant from time to time and I must say I've been thoroughly enjoying this place as a go to lunch spot. It's close to work, the food here is delicious on a consistent basis. Service is great as well. My menu recommendation is the Beef or Shrimp Pad Thai.

On my way to run errands in Colonial Heights last Saturday, I decided to treat myself to lunch since I hadn 't been to Kacha in a long time. I chose 2 dishes I 've never eaten before the glass noodle salad (Yum Woonsen) the Pad Wild Elephant. Both menu descriptions said hot , but I wish their spiciness levels had been more clearly specified.IMO, the heat of the Yum Woonsen was in the mild to medium range, and I loved the tang from the lime juice in its dressing. The Pad dish, on the other hand, was too spicy for me to totally enjoy it. The rice had soaked up the oils from the chili paste sauce, so it was no help taming the heat. My lips and tongue were tingling hours later! lol And since I was told they can 't adjust the recipe to tone down the spiciness, I won 't be ordering that particular item again. But I will be back because there are other dishes I want to try; I 'll just make sure to ask how spicy they are BEFORE I order from now on.
