Me and my boyfriend have been craving authentic Chinese bbq skewers for a while and stumbled upon this place online. The waitress was very nice, but spoke very little english the Chinese menu translations were pretty rough so we weren't too sure exactly what we ordered, but just went with it and hoped for the best. We were not disappointed and will definitely be coming back again to try some other things on the menu! Lamb/beef skewers: 5/5These honestly hit the spot were probably the most authentic skewers I've had in the states EVER. Each skewer had a generous amount of meat and was perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection. We could not stop raving about these throughout the meal! Dongjia spicy hotpot: 5/5Although we were expecting a hot pot of soup, this dish more than made up for that. It is a dry hotpot dish with meat, veggies, etc. all piled into one pot. This dish was a little on the saltier side, but the mala flavor was prominent and was a good, flavorful follow up to the skewers from before. Tasty pork appetizer: 3/5This dish ended up being deep fried coated pork served with a side of dried spices to dip the pork into. We kind of ordered this on a whim without knowing what to expect and was the dish we probably would've swapped out for something else. The quality of the dish was not bad, just wasn't as good compared to the first two dishes. They do give a lot of pork for an appetizer dish, so we were able to take some home. We noticed halfway throughout the meal that every single table ordered this one dish and after looking up other reviews found out it was something called guobaorou will add this to try next time we come back :
Foods in general are good. Gou bao rou is crispy, tastes very much like authentic northeastern food except too sweet. Jing jiang rou si is my family’s favorite, we love pork and green onions wrapped with tofu sheet. Beef skewer is tiny, fried, but my kids like them. Cold noodles are really good, spicy though. Sauerkraut with pork was pretty good.
Best Chinese food I've ever had. Very cheap as well.
Nice small restaurant with decent Chinese Dong Bei food.
