Having missed booking at on pub we spotted the sign for this one. We ordered sweet chilli salmon, and bangers and mash, a pint and a coffee. £30. The portions were small. Sausages were overdone, and vegetables that were advertised as roasted were not and were hard. I ate the sausages as I was hungry and left the rest. My partners salmon was over cooked with raw potatoes. We complained and were offered a poor apology and the offer to redo our meals which we did not want to risk. No offer of reimbursement was made. Definitely one to avoid at all costs. We went because it used to be run by friends of ours and had good reviews. Not any more.
Popped in for a snack. Pleasant location, typical old style Yorkshire pub. Bar staff pleasant, although whilst we were there 8 other customers came and left whilst we were there. Despite displaying on outside a variety of ‘Chef Specials, a traditional fire etc ‘ nothing was available. We were told that landlord would not be renewing tenancy. The simple food we ordered was simple but poor, wasn’t a nice jaunt out. Wouldn’t revisit, we do hope we caught it on a bad day, felt unloved as a venue.
Awful, from start to finish. We arrived and stood at the (almost empty) bar for almost 10 minutes before a member of staff came back in the room. We asked about food and was told we could get a menu from the end of the bar and that they also do Sunday lunch. We decided that two of us wanted a starter each and then all four of us wanted the Sunday lunch. I asked what the options were beef, beef or beef, apparently. The young girl behind the bar then asked if we wanted the four meals and the two starters all at once… no, obviously. We then waited half an hour for our starters and was told to ‘let her know when you want the other meals’…. Maybe after the starters, like everywhere else!? It was then another 40 minutes after the starters that the Sunday lunch arrived. Frozen veg, tough beer, flat yorkshire puddings, inedible cauliflower cheese and a shot of gravy each. Everything about this place is awful. It’s also not particularly cheap. Avoid.
