I recently stayed in a single cabin on the CAP San Diego for 3 nights and it was truly the experience of a lifetime. I realize I sound like an advertisement here, but I’m happy to do it. Staying on this ship is phenomenal! They...offer 4 single cabins, 4 double cabins, and the captain’s cabin. Just like a hotel. The only differences are that you pay in full upon arrival, and you leave your key with the steward on your way out and pick up your key on your way back onboard. If the steward isn’t available, you just ring the bell. Simple. Easy. And the prices are very very reasonable, especially when you consider what you get. And the location is awesome! At the time of my stay (June 2016) the payment policy was stated via email as being cash Euros upon arrival only, but when I arrived I was given the option of paying via credit card. Excellent surprise that! Keep in mind that when you see pictures on this website of cabins on the ship, the vast majority of those pics are not the cabins for guests. They are pics of the display cabins that you can see when you tour the ship. They’re examples of the cabins that the crew used. The pics of the actual cabins that you would get when you book a cabin for a stay are the pics of the really really nice looking cabins. There are only a few pics here, but there are more pics on the CAP San Diego website. And, if you view the ship’s website in German you can view a video that shows the cabins. My cabin was spotless. The bathroom was super clean and had everything one would need. Water pressure was excellent with plenty of hot water. You could take either a shower or luxuriate in the full tub. The single cabin felt comfortably spacious and included a table and couch. The temperature control was perfect during my stay and the forced air created a perfect white noise to drown out any other sounds on the ship at night. The bunk was perfect for me, but would have been a little tricky if I were taller than 6 feet. Included with a cabin stay was free cable, coffee/tea, 4 bottled water per day, and a daily cabin cleaning just like in a hotel. The café is really very nice and is open until 6:00pm. Excellent service and if you want breakfast, you simply let them know the day before. Of course, I took the opportunity to tour the ship during my stay and I was not disappointed. It was like a dream. If you’re a fan of ships then this is the place for you. The CAP San Diego is kept in pristine condition and even just touring the deck and getting to see the rigging and the hold door mechanisms up close was thrilling. Being able to tour the Bridge and the Engine Room is awesome. And, if you’re staying on the ship you can walk along the deck anytime. How cool is that? There’s no check-out at the end of your stay, as there are no ways to incur additional costs during your stay. When you’re ready to leave, you simply leave your key with the steward and you’re on your way. And don’t miss the CAP San Diego gift shop at the start of the pier. I practically needed an extra bag to bring home everything I got. There are all kinds of CAP San Diego branded items available: clothing, magnets, keychains, pens, books, pictures, etc. Lots of fun stuff. Absolutely excellent stay all around. If you’re someone who would really appreciate all of these special/unique things the CAP San Diego offers, then this is extremely highly recommended!

When we arrived, we found out that there would be a private wedding party on the ship and that therefore we would not be able to be on any part of the ship (like the deck etc. after 6 p.m. That didn 't leave much of...the promised attraction left, except for a very sticky cabin. When we politely asked why they hadn 't told us in advance and/or offered a reduced price, the night porter told us this wasn 't his problem. He then added: if you don 't sleep here, somebody else will . So we left, quite amazed, and woulnd 't recommend the experience.

The cap san diego is very interesting to see, you get a really good look behind the scenes of such a ship and just as an idea as the life on such a ship is.

We were on the 2nd time. it is worth a trip alone as a maritime museum. everything is as if the occupation is coming and it goes back. all facilities can be visited and function. there are many explanations and always people close to who can answer questions. at the 2nd time, it was then as far as in the frame the entrance parade to the harbour birthday. an unforgettable experience. we like to come back.
