Miss Daisy's Tearoom At Sutton Park

I visited this restaurant for afternoon tea and had a great experience. The sandwiches were delicious, the scones were fresh and served with jam. The place was beautifully decorated for the holiday season. The service was good and there was plenty of parking available.

We debated whether our experience was worth 2 or 3 stars, but decided to be generous and give it 3 stars. The food we had was actually very good, both the starter and main course. However, the food was only part of the story. When we arrived and walked in, it was extremely quiet. We stood by the bar and waited to find out where we would be seated and let the staff know we were there. Instead, we were just glared at by a rude blond lady. The rudeness continued throughout our meal, indicating that this place is more of a hobby for someone and they are not taking it seriously. The service team seemed amateur, passing plates overhead without considering table layout for proper service. This may seem trivial, but when we discovered a significant service charge added to our bill, it was hard to swallow. Additionally, the environment was cluttered with 'Bric-A-Brac', which could work if the place was thoroughly cleaned. Items were covered in dust and cobwebs. Interestingly, the food hygiene certification was missing, which knocked a star down for cleanliness. As we were leaving, we realized there were no lights outside, leading to one of our party tripping and falling on a muddy, slippery path just outside the door.

This Tea Room is truly fantastic. The quality of everything is top-notch and everything is made fresh. The scones are outstanding, as are the main courses. In the summertime, there is a secluded courtyard, and in the winter, the inside area is warm, inviting, and filled with interesting decorations. This place is a hidden gem.

Great afternoon tea. Good value for money. Best scones ever. Good service. Love the ambience of the place and the use of the old style tea cups and tea pots.

Lovely setting. Food was of a good standard and tasty. But……,,, how slow can you be. It wasn’t particularly busy but took forty minutes to get drink 1 tea and glass of water !
