Bidrage med feedbackThere is something sad about a restaurant where the food is so yummy you want to fall on the ground, but the service is so old school you want to scream from the rooftops. It is not clear to me if the St Pauli girl outfits actually make the staff think they are back in the Middle Ages, but suffice it to say the Bagatelle approach to service is more 1320 than 2020. First, the good stuff: the magnificent Cote de Boeuf (roast beef) with Bearnaise and the delicious foie gras were amazing. The tuna tartare and summer salad got rave reviews from our group. Our poulet with truffles (Australian truffles, bizarrely) was absolutely succulent and amazing. The food at Bagatelle is very expensive but there is a lot of it (bring your appetite) and it is rich and unctious and perfect for a special mountain meal. The wine list is extremely comprehensive, and I used Vivino to choose a nice bottle of Tuscan wine (Therra) which at 65 francs was relatively reasonably priced compared with the rest of the wine list. Be careful casually reaching for a top bottle of Burgundy here! But this is Gstaad and this is a great restaurant. The one area we were not enchanted with the experience was the service. We mentioned to the waitresses that with the risk of Covid-19 they should wear masks, and were told curtly that masks are what they wear in Geneva; we don 't have Covid here. They were leaning over us without masks all night, which really took something away from our dining experience. Whenever I eat out, no matter the level of the food, I can 't and won 't accept rude service. Life is too short. We ate in front of the window, which we opened to get some fresh air flow, and the people at the neighbouring table thanked us for this. I only wish the staff cared as much about our health.
Our hotel in Gstaad recommended this restaurant and booked a table for us. We sat outside and had a beautiful view over the mountains. It’s a great location. However, we did not find the staff particularly friendly or welcoming. The food was good, but not very special, and quite pricey. All in all, we were a bit disappointed.
Alex
Was für ein Platz! Die Aussicht ist atemberaubend und das Essen. . . unglaublich lecker? Freundlicher Service. Wir hatten die Muschelsuppe. . . . das Beste, was ich je hatte! ! Vielen Dank
