Gauchos Do Sul - Great Wood

Went in for Houston restaurant week but decided to get the regular menu due to beef ribs and lamb chops. Never brought them had to ask numerous times and by the time they brought the first one it was so over done and tasted and texture was like brisket not rib and honestly by this time we got full off the other stuff.

My first time here visiting celebrating my niece wedding, mother in law was given. I will go back everything delicious, I will take my husband since that day could not accompany us..

I have to give this restaurant a full 5* review. The service was top-notch. Great drinks. Awesome salad bar. And the meat! All fresh and delicious. Most importantly, my wife was happy on our anniversary date. Yes, it was expensive but worth every dollar.

UPDATE Second Visit. Was there Sunday night with wife and daughter. I have to give kudos to the floor manager. Food was good as usual salad bar was great. But it seems daughter had an upset stomach so she didn’t really eat. She asked waiter if she could take food on her plate home because her stomach was upset, waiter deferred the floor manager, and he said no as it is Restaurant policy. I explained to daughter that at buffets and places like this , they don’t allow take home as too many people would abuse the privilege. We all understood and went on to finish our meal. At the end of the meal when they brought the bill, the floor manager said that he was taking her meal off the bill as she didn’t really eat. We didn’t expect it, but we’re very grateful. I think this is the way restaurants should be run. Where people do things for you without asking. And do the right thing. Anyway, great job and we will be back and recommending to others. . For me, better than the two Brazilian places in town. Meats all excellent, grilled shrimp was great. Cheese bread was very good. Their salad bar also was excellent. I think the sides that they put on the table at the other restaurants in town were a little bit better and more substantial but at a place like this you really don’t go for the sides anyway. Think For Valentine’s Day they raise the price by $10 per person. And generally they may be between eight to $10 higher than the two other similar places in town but in my opinion, worth it for the quality and not having to make the drive. For Valentine’s Day, they served dessert, we had chocolate cake and tres leches, which both were excellent. Not sure if they do that during the regular menu. Would definitely go back.

Great food and service. Great experience; salad bar is the best among all the Brazilian steakhouse with the best Lobster bisque. The meets are tender and not overly salted. The servers were great; you need to inform them if you are celebrating an occasion to get a complimentary dessert. We did get the cooking preferences and everything we asked for except the filet Mignon and the lamp chops; I did ask for them and never really got them. You have to book a table in advance and they do have a VIP room for celebrations. I recommend going there and remember to be prepared and hungry; a lot of different items to try . Bring your best appetite!
