The Staiths Cafe - Gateshead

My wife and I visited the restaurant today. The cafe had a unclean atmosphere and the poached eggs seemed to have been cooked in advance. The beans were cold and the bacon was average at best. However, the view was pleasant.

I will not be returning to this restaurant. The wait was long and the toast was incorrect - we ordered 2 full English breakfasts with sourdough and white toast. After waiting 35 minutes, I had to inquire about our food and saw that it was sitting on a bench in the back. When it was finally brought to our table, one had sourdough toast and the other had brown toast. The food was only lukewarm and the hash browns were cold and inedible. We informed the waiter, who offered to remake the dish but we did not have time to wait again. He then offered us a cake, but since we do not eat cake, we declined. Overall, £19.00 was wasted on this disappointing experience.

I absolutely adore this restaurant. It has a fantastic location, delicious food, and amazing coffee. My friends and I come here often, and the staff is always friendly. Kirsty, in particular, goes out of her way to ensure that your experience is enjoyable. She is truly exceptional!

Fantastic experience arranged a brilliant surprise birthday party with help from Staiths cafe staff. Catering was just right, service was attentive but not overbearing. Spot on. Before the event had a couple of brilliant meetings to work out the details there was a real sense of care and thoughtfulness with this, and every other part of the event. Cannot recommend highly enough as a venue.

Fantastic breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, great location. 1st visit, will definitely be back!
