Stopped by this dining spot for lunch, and what a nice view. We both had tequilla drinks, which were quite good. Then we ordered lunch. My wife had the snapper tacos, which she did not care for. I had the red snapper entree with a delicious bowl of clam chowder. The entree was good, and my wife ended up enjoying the entree, and I ate her tasteless tacos. The fish in the tacos was not fresh and hence just ok. Our server was ok and seemed bothered by my wife's questions about the fish, but I will chalk it up to a hot and long day. The view is quite nice and the drinks are pretty good, so a nice hangout but not fine dining, hence the name cafe! Still recommend as the choices in Eureka are a bit slim.
They were friendly enough but the Cajun red snapper was very dry /over cooked. The other red snapper with a wine garlic and capers was cooked nicely the sauce was mostly just butter. We had ordered the grilled oysters and we got fried oysters we also had the clam chowder it is a little shy on clams and heavy on the potatoes all in all for the price I expected better.
This restaurant was located right by the dock. The atmosphere here would be lovely for romantic occasions or for family dining evenings. This eatery had a fully stocked bar, and friendly staff. We visited on Valentine's Day's for the lunch special. Due to being a walk in, we had about a 15 minute wait which was not a big deal. Restaurant was surprisingly spacious, and while waiting to be seated most people choose to sit at the bar while waiting to be called for their table. The drinks we ordered were a mildly Spicy **** Mary (4 out of 10) due to it being a little too spicy. Second drink was a (6 out of 10) I believe the name of the drink was a beachy breeze. We each ordered a small bowl of clam chowder which came with oyster crackers (8 out of 10). We split an entrée that had green beans, a loaded baked potato and red snapper (9 out of 10). This place is a must try if you're visiting in the Eureka area.
This institution on Woolley Island never disappoints. As a single diner on occasion I usually settle on the bar to the left of the entrance. I'm in the mood for clam chowder, with extra crackers On this day, the sun was out in the deck and many people were enjoying it. I highly recommend the Clam chowder.
