Second City Bistro - El Segundo

Happened upon this place (via OT) while visiting LA Nice selection of wine, both by the glass and bottle. Very casual fun vibe and the food is solid. Would like to go back just for cocktails next time in town

Brought a group of 16 for a business dinner, such a great experience and fantastic food!!

Calamari salad only fair. Very bland calamari, need seasoning. The Cajun tilapia was excellent

From the minute we were seated until we paid our check, Second City Bistro was a disappointment. We arrived about 20 min early for our reservation on 9/27 and were told we could be seated. We then waited about 15-20 for someone to come over and greet us, bring water, anything. But nothing. We finally flagged down the host who sat us and said can he please get our waiter so we can place a drink order? He then said he would take the order because they are really backed up. Why seat us early then? We would have gladly come back at our reservation time if we knew we would have just been sitting at a table waiting. It then took another 15+ minutes to get our drinks. Our waiter came to deliver the drinks and gave no apology for the wait, didn’t introduce himself, or offer any info about daily specials, etc. Zero personality. We ordered the baked Brie as an appetizer. It was very basic, came with bland water crackers and hardly any of the compote on top. My husband suggested we leave after this and I should have listened. We then waited another 20 or so minutes for him to come back and take our order, which who knows if he ever would have done unless we flagged him down. I ordered the shrimp risotto and my husband ordered the fish special. Now, anyone who knows my husband knows he will eat ANYTHING, NEVER sends food back and rarely doesn’t finish his meal. His fish came, he took about 3 bites and pushed the plate away. Said it was terrible and way too salty. My risotto was also nothing special, somewhat clumpy and I didn’t finish it. Oh, we also ordered the Greek salad which wasn’t actually a salad, as there was no lettuce. Just chopped veggies with a vinaigrette. When the waiter came back to ask how everything was, my husband said it wasn’t good and he wasn’t going to eat his meal. He offered no replacement, no apology and didn’t remove it from the bill. $110 later and we won’t be back!!!

Great steaks for a reasonable price . Will definitely be coming back
