Barra Airport Cafe - Eilean Siar

What an amazing location! The airport may be a little run down, with the Cafe closing in June. Hopefully, there will be a new and improved food and drink service soon. However, this airport is unique in the world, with three beach runways - a truly unforgettable experience.

The restaurant is currently undergoing construction but we had no issues with arriving. However, leaving was a bit challenging as sea fog caused a delay in our departure to Glasgow. Despite this, it was a great experience landing on the beach.

The small terminal building is located right on the beach, where the planes land. The staff, from check-in to the ground crew, are all very friendly and even offer to take photos with the small plane. The only downside is that the supposedly great cafe on site is closed.

This is now my favourite airport in the world. We were very lucky with the conditions but our take off and landing were both very smooth. And the location...? Gorgeous.

The runway is a beach. Brilliant! Lovely little airport with a café and a nice waiting area. Staff are friendly and kind and it's an amazing experience for anyone. I love how your bags are brought up the beach on a buggy and waiting for you in a little shelter outside. The only negative is that flights are sometimes cancelled due to the weather. Overall nice and simple I'll give this one stars.
