Sapporo Sushi - Edmonton

My best friend and I absolutely love this place! The neighbourhood isn't the greatest but the food and service is fantastic.

Can you picture a place where, if you were really craving for sushi, all you can eat, not worry about getting charged for indulgence and not having to get disappointed with what's offered? Well this is not the place. I found this place after driving...through the back alleys along St (don't ask I was looking for something). Decided to try it out and found myself in a place that seems to struggle with customers. There was staff a plenty, but maybe a group of people in the corner while I was there. So the food...all you can eat sushi. I tried all the sashimi, which is basically salmon, tuna and mackerel. I tried the scallop sushi, teriyaki chicken, teriyaki beef, chicken karaage. The salmon was unflavorful, the tuna? meh, hardly any flavor, and the mackerel was uninspiring. I did like the scallop sushi, it was different, sweet and melted in your mouth. Onto the meats, the teriyaki unfortunately had a vinegar note to the sauce and was not happy, the chicken karaage, the ginger sauce was runny and overwhlemingly ginger. The price for this was over dollars. There are less expensive fares for far better flavorful and amazing sushi, heck T&T has better sushi for taste and selection for the price.

I was extremely disappointed by this restaurant. I understand that all-you-can-eat places may not offer the same quality as other restaurants, but this one had more negatives than positives. The positives were that the interior was clean, the decor was cute, the rolls had a good amount of filling, and the sashimi was of good quality. However, the negatives outweighed the positives. The menu for the all-you-can-eat option was limited with not many options to choose from. The quantity of each item was too much, with only a few pieces per order. Additionally, this restaurant was one of the pricier all-you-can-eat sushi places I have been to. Therefore, for me, the high price and limited menu options make it not worth going back.

Pro's: Great quality sashimi. Large size maki with minimal filler (i.e. tempura crumbs) for all you can eat compared to places like Zen and Sushi Garden. Fantastic service I dropped a chopstick at the end of the meal and the waitress was at our...table within minute with a new pair...I was prepared to use my fingers for the pieces that were left!. Laid back, quiet atmosphere. Con's: A little more expensive than other all you can eats for dinner). Washrooms aren't the nicest, but they have updated their toilets and sinks. Parking lot is a bit tough to get into.

I think this has to be the worst all you can eat sushi place I have ever been to. The sushi sucks, no variety, stupid expensive dessert isn't even included, and the chef is a creep who watches if you're wasting food and will...kick you out. If I could, I would give it no stars. To the chef, you need to learn how to make food that's not gross. I also suggest that you don't kick out your customers who paid for your disgusting food.
