Bidrage med feedbackWe stayed on the campsite which had good sized hardstanding pitches and lovely views. The two shower/ toilet/ basin rooms by the pub were fine and there are additional showers and toilets in a sort of portacabin for when the site is busy. The pub is brilliant. Welcoming, traditional, cosy with a log burner, and excellent food. We really appreciated the extra touches like table games and games menu! The owners have made a great effort with things like pop bingo (Friday), quiz night (Sunday) and fantastic live music (Saturday). We loved our stay and look forward to returning with family and friends. Highly recommended.
We were in the local area and started to get peckish when we saw the road sign for the pub. We weren't sure if we would be able to get there due to Road closures, well signs for a road closure. But we are very glad we did find it and got a table. We entered the pub to be greeted by a very welcoming smiling face. Asked if they were serving food and if they took card. A big resounding YES on both counts. Fabulous we thought, we were warned they were very busy and there would be a wait on food. Yes there was a wait, but the food was well worth it and we were warned three times! We ordered a couple of drinks and then a Sunday Roast and a roast wrap.. Both were DELICIOUS!! and good portion sizes too. After our mains we decided to try a dessert and my gosh!!! The Lemon cheesecake was to die for, Sooo zesty and lemony and delicious. And taking the barmaids advise I got Lemon Meringue ice cream. WOW!! Absolutely amazing ice cream, soooo creamy and tasty and just delish!! Must have been made with clotted cream or something equally delicious. It was homemade creamy tasty deliciousness!! We will be back, if not just for food then a little overnighter as the pods looked so cute and accommodating. What a wonderful find. Thank you to Debs for being such a welcoming face and excellent ice-cream advisor :
What a fantastic lunch. Food hot, very tasty, well presented. Service great. Views spectacular. A very hidden gem in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds.
If this pub was near me I'd be eating here at every opportunity. What a gem! Here on holiday for a week, ate lunch then dinner (on a different day). Food simply perfect. Pheasant on the menu, duck and venison, plus usual pie, burger etc. Staff delightful and working very hard.
The glamping garden is pleasant with privacy space around each pod and none really overlooking the others. Lovely mature birch trees at the back and a little stream at the back of my pod. The greyhound loved looking out of the window and watching the wildlife in the hedgerow behind. there is a walk behind the campsite you can go on and 'the Viking Way ' walk is local. Outside on this walk, I was able to hear far away traffic from Cadwell Park, but at night, I didn 't hear this and it was overall, very peaceful with only the odd car driving down the lane behind. On the website, I was trying to work out the size of the window but it is standard size pretty big compared to some caravan windows. (that 's why I have random window pictures! The pod was uncomfortably hot upon arrival and I was very concerned about my dog staying in it not me, just the dog, lol but, after leaving the doors and window open it did cool down. I asked if they had a fan but they didn 't this surprised me, as while the bar staff explained, It 's because they 're so well insulated and has a small wall mounted heater and you 'd think a cool switch/option for the heater would be the minimum The mattress on the double bed in the Alfie arch pod was appalling old style camping/spring one very lumpy, and I didn 't sleep at all on the first night
