Calice - Dorsuduro Venezia Italia

Buongiorno! Jan and Fran took an Italian vacation to Venice, and boy did we have a ball, pumpkin!! After more than a few aperol spritz, we stumbled down some Venice alleys to come upon the quaint and inviting Calice. A cheerful bubbly fellow greeted us and took us up to the second floor, where Fran gasped and quickly ordered some Bellinis! Off to the races these hangry gals went with prosciutto and shaved melon, caprese salad. Fran was looking to find her Leonardo, so she went light with veggies, but you know Jan better than that... bacon bucatini with another brewski! Until next time, sugar! Ciao! xoxo, Jan

Delicious pizza restaurant in the heart of town. Order at the counter and then sit down. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. The prices are reasonable. And most importantly, the pizza is delicious! They feature pizza by the slice and made to order. Everything is on display. They have a few outdoor seats and lots of seats inside and upstairs.

An unexpected gem we stumbled across after a failed dinner next door. Straightforward Italian cuisine. Home style and cooked with love. Every bite was filling and wholesome. Great crispy crust pizza. We tried eggplant parmigiana, lasagna bolognese, roasted chicken, roasted veggies, two different types of pizza--ate every morsel between the 5 of us. You won't find a lot of seafood or necessarily typical Venetian foods but it's a reliable place you want to come back to. And the three men who run the place? Hilarious, sincere and cheerful. You can't go wrong here.

Amazing pizza, freshly made. Modern ambience. Sitting on bar stools at high tables on the ground floor, top with chairs at tables. Moderate prices despite top position.

We went to this place twice because the food was pretty good and the price was decent. It is open all day and night, which makes it easy for those who are still adjusting to the time zone and don't eat during typical lunch or dinner periods. I'm not sure why others had a terrible experience. The staff who helped us were very friendly and spoke to us in both Italian and English as we tried our best to speak in our basic Italian. We'll likely try this place again if we need a quick and simple bite. Grazie!
