Musette - Davis

Funny, I wanted to make this place five stars, but Happy Cow told me that I can't because the place serves meat. Really? Sure enough, it's deeply buried in the menu... Selection of the opposite, how vegan options are often treated. I built my own bowl and was pampered for excellent decisions. I'll come back, probably a few times before I leave town next week.

This is the place Davis needed for a looooong time. Finally, we have gourmet food at reasonable prices. Although it is not exclusively vegetarian, it can also be. Maybe someday they'll go on. Until then, it serves my palate and diet preference perfectly. The variety of flavors in a single bowl storted my socks!

The only reason it gets 4 stars is because this site limits the stars to 4 for restaurants that are not completely veg.... I didn't know. Travel all the time for work and have found many great Veg sites, but Musette has so incredible quality ingredients and they are always perfectly prepared, no exaggeration I swear. Counting my lucky stars, we have this place in Davis!

Wow. Musette sets a new high bar in Davis. The crafted grain bowls here are exceptionally pleasing on every level. Bowls are brimming with taste, texture and color. The bowls can easily be shared or perhaps some saved for later. Fresh herbs, exotic spices and local produce are combined into colorful masterpieces. I had the century bowl for my first visit, which layered harissa jackfruit mushrooms, quinoa, crispy chickpeas baby kale, sumac roasted beets oranges, chamoy roasted carrots, and blue lake green beans mint and topped it all with a delicious smokey eggplant tahini spread. Will be hard to try anything else as this bowl was perfection but they have many other delicious ingredients to try so I will need to visit often to work through the menu. They were taking some vegan loaf cakes from the oven as we arrived so took one home and it was exceptional. Easily the best vegan cake I have ever had. They had fresh baked sourdough boules available as well that we will grab next visit. Musette is easily the best vegan option in Davis and rivals the best I've had elsewhere, including San Francisco and Los Angeles.

This restaurant is a long-awaited gem in Davis. Finally, we have gourmet food that is worth the trip. While it's not strictly vegetarian, it does have options. They may convert me one day, but for now, they cater perfectly to my palate and nutritional preferences. The combination of flavors in their dishes is truly impressive and has left me speechless.
