Bidrage med feedbackMy go to for a pint when stopping in any of the hotels nearby. Convenient for East Croydon train station so always handy for a pint if coming back from London. Nice beer, nice pub.
Really nice local- good beers (Greene King with one guest ale and the usual lagers and Guinness) plus very good food by pub standards. The décor is comfortable and there is always sport on the various TV sets. Staff are outstanding- all friendly and very polite. Well worth a visit if you’re in Croydon, but please note that neither children nor pets can use the pub or the pleasant beer garden.
Hung with window boxes, The Bedford Tavern, a pretty Victorian pub, blooms amid the concrete canyons of Croydon. A largish front garden is given over to tables and benches. Service is prompt and friendly. The menu trad pub fare is reasonably priced. We order bangers and mash and peas with lashings of onions in gravy and a generous tuna melt with trimmings: too much for my wife, so we take the melt home and nuke it in the microwave for supper. We drink a dryish cider and a light amber, hoppy bitter. My wife is much impressed by food and service. The downside: chips served with the dishes are all chunky mouthfuls; thin crispy fries are £3.50 extra. Hmm.
First time I’ve visited the Bedford Tavern, but won’t be the last. Good old fashioned boozer with friendly staff, good beer selection and friendly staff. The heaters in the garden are properly decent too (it was was a wet and windy day when I visited). Would definitely recommend.
Really great food! Halloumi burger and recommend the wedges with it (they're like roast potatoes but wedge shaped, delicious! . Staff very friendly. Prices the norm for the area.
