Bidrage med feedbackMy favorite place to get a matcha latte on Newbury Street. They can add any kind of syrup to it you want and the people who work there are super nice!
Legit pastry selection. Friendly service. Classy ambiance. Need I say more? Oh yes, they serve both coffee and cocktail varieties. They're located right below Suit Supply, service staff members are always pleasantly well dressed, pleasant, and provides respectful conversation. Clean interiors, clean bathrooms, and a nice view of tailors doing masterful fabric work. I think this may be my favorite coffee shop in Boston!
Café Susu is such an interesting café concept as it is located downstairs of the suit store. You get a nice view of the people working in their workshop while sitting and enjoying drinks with a friend. My friend got hot chocolate while I ordered the matcha latte. Neither of the two drinks were impressive enough taste-wise and presentation-wise for the price you are paying for. Seats are also quite limited, but if you are lucky, you might score a seat on their nice green velvet couch. The place is nicely decorated, which is great for those who enjoy taking photos. Overall, the place looked better than what it had to offer so I would not come back for their drinks. I would recommend this café to those who are looking for a quieter place to rest and chat after shopping around Newbury.
I think we can all agree the US, and Boston in particular, needs more places that combine coffee and alcohol. The menu here was creative and had most of the classic coffee varieties as well as some I'd never seen before. The cocktail list was short but both the dirty chai martini (pumpkin version for fall) and the blood orange mimosa were delicious flavorful without being too sweet. The unique element of having the cafe in the basement of suit supply so you can see the alterations happening was really cool. My only retraction was I think there is a bit of a mismatch between the elevation of service and price. The staff were all very nice but definitely casual. It's great they're all friends and having a good time, but we're more focused on chatting and doing their homework than serving drinks. That would be totally fine with me for a casual coffee shop, but when you're paying these prices it would be nice to not feel like you're just hanging out at their apartment. Everyone was pleasant and made great drinks I just wish this spot would be either an upscale lunch spot or a casual coffee shop, not somewhere confusing in between.
Very pleasant staff, and good coffee and pastries. Quite small and not quite lunch, but great for what it is!
