Bidrage med feedbackBest sweet potato French fries, delicious Philly sandwich and very good service
We were very pleased to see Diamond Joes open back up. However the food has changed. Not for the better either. Hopefully they can get away from canned country gravy. I really noticed the quality in food has gone down.
This is the best restaurant in Crawford. Of course, it is the only restaurant in Crawford. It actually appears pretty new on the inside, so I am not sure if it is under new ownership or what, but there was a sign on the door that said they were immediately hiring people in every position in the restaurant. From my perspective, they would do better to train the people they already have working. From not knowing what beers/wines they had available to throwing out my leftovers when my wife specifically asked for a box to not getting us our check, it was a mess. They also didn 't know how to use the register and the manager who did was MIA working on something outside. It turns out their internet was down, fortunately I had $45 in cash on me to pay for an unexceptional meal. I had the Navajo taco, which was pretty good, but my wife had the chicken special, one fried chicken thigh with (what tasted like) boxed mashed potatoes, powdered gravy, and canned green beans. We should have driven 10 miles down the road to Hotchkiss.
Crawford is basically the middle of nowhere, definitely not on any major supply or tourist route. So, having a place serving a classic American diner-style menu with long hours, 7 days a week, is really a luxury. I appreciate this place. But the honest truth is that the food isn 't great. But it also isn 't bad, nor is it expensive, and it 's ready fast. If you 're using Yelp, you 're probably just passing thru, and this is probably the best you 're going to find in the area. The staff are friendly, but in this neck of the woods, they think you wear a mask to protect yourself, and they aren 't afraid of COVID-19, so they don 't wear them. They 'll kindly invite you to take off your mask if you want, unless you feel safer with it on. So, if that 's a concern, fair warning. If it 's not, then it 's your lucky day! There 's still a restaurant in Crawford, and it 's probably open right now!
These folks are no longer open for business. A new business has come in called Joe 's Cafe . Do not have anything to report on them as of yet. They are working the kinks out, so will review later.
