Perfect stop for a drink and snack after a day wondering around the lovely Coyoacan. The staff were beautiful the food and drinks great too. My Spanish is very basic, but I 've been getting by I ordered the guacamole with chapulines. Turns out 'chapulines ' are grasshoppers, a specialty of Central Mexico salty and a bit crunchy but I 'm really glad I tried it!!
Saw chapulines tacos on the menu and had to try them. Grasshoppers fried in garlic, oil, and peppers, served with raw onion, avocado, and cilantro. Tasted good, nice and crunchy.
Mezcalero was referred to us by some friends who are experts in mezcal. So we came here for the mezcal, but stayed for the food. The mezcal list is big and they have different size tastings. We had a tepeztate and a cuish and they were both fantastic. We were here for lunch and both had the Caldo de Piedra, or stone soup. This is an ancient recipe from Oaxaca and they do a really good version here, putting the hot stone in your soup at the table. There are all sorts of ingredients, including fish, shrimp and veggies. Fantastic!!
I love this place. The cocktail was great. If you are a vodka lover you need to drink caramel instead of if you prefer Mezcal, you need to get a sarap. Personal are very friendly and they have a fast service. I'll be back soon.
